Window graphics without glue
Static clings are a thin, flexible film that holds onto smooth glass without an adhesive backing. Because nothing sticky is involved, a cling can usually be peeled off, stored flat and put back up later, which suits messages that change with the season or the calendar. They are a handy way to promote a brand or an offer on glass you do not want to mark.

Checking the surface
A cling needs glass or a similarly smooth, glossy surface that is clean and dry when it goes up, so wipe away dust, grease and cleaning residue first. Brick, timber, painted walls and textured plastics are not suitable, so for spots like those look at window stickers or custom stickers instead.
Planning the artwork
Viewing direction
Work out where the viewer stands. Most shop promotions are read from the footpath, yet clings are often placed on the inside of the glass where passers-by cannot reach them. Note your plan in the request so the artwork is set up the right way round.
Size and message
Measure the pane and leave a margin around the edge so the cling is easy to smooth flat. Big headline text and one clear offer read better from a distance than a paragraph of detail.
Background or cut shape
Clings can be requested as rectangles, squares, circles, ovals, hexagons, octagons or a custom die cut outline, and there are no die or plate charges for a custom shape.

When is a static cling a better choice than a window sticker?
A cling suits messages you may want to take down or move, such as a seasonal sale, an event notice or a temporary opening announcement, because it holds by cling rather than glue. For a permanent logo on a shopfront, an adhesive window sticker is usually the more common choice. Describe the job and we will advise.
Which surfaces do static clings work on?
Clings need a smooth, clean, non-porous surface, and glass is by far the usual one. Textured, dusty or painted surfaces generally will not hold a cling. Tell us where it is going when you request a quote, and if a cling does not suit that spot we will suggest another category instead.
Should my cling be read from inside or outside the glass?
Decide which side of the window it will be applied to before the artwork is set up. A cling placed inside the glass and read from the street needs to be prepared for viewing through the window, so mention it in your quote request and we will confirm what is possible. Check the orientation on your proof before approving.
