Roll labels are supplied wound on a core, so they can be fed through a dispenser or labelling machine, or peeled off quickly by hand at a packing bench. They suit anyone labelling the same product over and over: food producers, cosmetic makers, breweries, candle businesses and fulfilment teams.
What to measure before you request a quote
- Label size – width and height of each label
- Core size – the inner diameter of the core your dispenser or machine takes
- Maximum roll diameter – the largest outer roll size that fits
- Wind direction – which edge of the design should come off the roll first
- Labels per roll – usually set by how your equipment loads
- Gap between labels – important if your machine uses a sensor
Why wind direction matters
Labelling machines apply labels in a fixed orientation. If the artwork comes off the roll upside down or sideways, every product ends up labelled wrong. Check your machine manual or look at an existing roll, note whether the top, bottom, left or right of the design leads, and include a photo if you are unsure.
Materials and shapes

What machine details do I need to send for roll labels?
If you use an applicator, send the inner diameter of the core it takes, the largest roll it can hold, the label width and height, the gap between labels if it uses a sensor, and the wind direction. A photo of the label path or the relevant manual page helps. The details will be confirmed in your quote before production.
Do I need roll labels if I apply labels by hand?
Not necessarily. Rolls pair well with a benchtop dispenser when you label the same product repeatedly at a packing bench. For a small batch of mixed designs, a different supply format may be easier to handle. Describe how you currently label and we will suggest what fits your process.
Should I choose roll labels or roll stickers?
Roll labels are aimed at products, packing and production, such as jars, bottles and cartons coming off a line. Roll stickers suit promotional stickers handed out in bulk, like giveaways at events or stickers added to every order. If your job mixes the two, explain the use and we will point you to the better category.
How many labels should I ask for on each roll?
That usually comes down to the largest roll your dispenser or machine will accept and how you batch production. Smaller rolls can be handier if several people label at once. Tell us the equipment and your total quantity, and the split across rolls will be worked out in the quote.
